What Is the EU AI Act?
The EU AI Act is Europe’s new law that makes sure artificial intelligence is used responsibly and safely. It sets clear rules for how AI systems should work — especially when they interact with people or handle personal data.
Every AI tool is placed in a risk category — from minimal to high — depending on how it can affect users. Systems designed for education and learning support, like KOBI, are usually considered limited or minimal risk, as long as they are transparent, well-supervised, and respectful of privacy.
How KOBI Uses AI
KOBI includes several AI features designed to make reading more fun and more personal for children — always with safety and privacy built in:
- StoryShaker & Snap-a-Story — Create imaginative stories, audiobooks, and covers. (Limited-risk)
- WordBlaster & Reading Aloud — Use speech recognition to help kids practice reading aloud. It works completely offline and stores voice data only if parents give explicit consent. (Minimal-risk)
- Adaptive Reading Support — Adjusts text difficulty and highlights based on each child’s reading progress. (Limited-risk)
- ThinkTalk — Lets children interact verbally with AI prompts by converting their spoken words into text entirely on the device. (Limited-risk)
By keeping all these systems within the limited-risk category, KOBI ensures that AI supports learning rather than making decisions that could affect a child’s future.

Privacy First: Voice Data and Offline Safety
Your child’s privacy always comes first. KOBI checks word correctness and reading accuracy entirely on the device, without sending voice recordings anywhere.
Parents can choose to enable voice data storage for reading practice sessions— but only with explicit consent. This lets teachers or parents track additional aspects of reading progress in a secure and transparent way, with the option to delete the stored data at any time.
Transparency and Human Oversight
Children, parents, and teachers can always see when content is AI-generated. KOBI clearly labels all AI stories with special icons and text tags.
You can also skip or report any AI-generated story, and our team reviews reports carefully to make sure everything remains safe, age-appropriate, and fair.
And most importantly — AI never replaces human guidance. Parents, teachers, and children always stay in control of what is read, learned, or shared.
How KOBI Meets the EU AI Act
KOBI’s approach to responsible AI includes:
✅ Transparent labeling of AI-generated content
✅ Offline processing to protect privacy
✅ Regular review for age-appropriateness and fairness
✅ Strong parental and educator involvement
Safe, Smart, and Supportive Learning
Our mission is simple: help children learn to read with confidence and joy. By combining AI creativity with proven literacy practices — and by following the EU AI Act — KOBI makes sure this support is safe, private, and transparent.
With KOBI, AI becomes a trusted reading partner — empowering children, guiding parents, and supporting teachers — all within a framework that protects what matters most: children’s safety and learning journey.
