Vrtojba, October 7, 2025 — KOBI, the evidence-based reading platform built for children who struggle with reading, today announced the release of multiple new languages: English, Slovene, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Croatian, and Polish. Developed by a Slovenian–Dutch team, KOBI was designed with a special awareness of the needs of smaller language communities, which too often lack the high-quality educational tools available in larger markets.
KOBI is made for kids with dyslexia—but it works for everyone. The app focuses on the toughest part of learning to read: integrating subskills like letter recognition and phonics into the end goal—reading connected text and understanding it. KOBI is the only consumer reading app that combines narrated books, built-in speech recognition, and a personalized, progressive sequence of words to learn (available now in English, and coming soon in Spanish). This rigorous, science-of-learning approach—pairing decoding practice with real-time feedback and comprehension work—is rare among consumer solutions.
“Every child deserves world-class reading support in their own language,” said Ursula Lavrenčič, CEO & Co-founder of KOBI. “As a Slovenian–Dutch team, we know firsthand how underserved smaller language groups can be. Today’s expansion is a big step toward our mission to make KOBI available in all EU languages.”
KOBI is already available to teachers in Slovenia through an arrangement with the Ministry of Education, enabling classroom-ready access at scale. Next on the roadmap is a Spanish feature pack that adds voice interactivity, further enhancing decoding accuracy and conversation-based comprehension practice.
